Map of Rome
Trains
Stazione Termini is Rome's central station and the hub of its transport network. International, Inter-city, suburban and Metro trains run from Termini, including a dedicated Fiumicino airport train.
La Metro (Metropolitana)
The Rome Metro system has two lines, Linea A and Linea B, which interchange at Stazione Termini.
For tourists, Linea A serves the Spanish Steps (
Spagna) and the Vatican (at
Ottaviano), while Linea B connects the Colosseum (
Colosseo) and the Pyramid of Caius Cestius (
Piramide).
Bus/Tram
Local buses run a frequent service throughout Rome from 05.30 to midnight daily, with a lighter night service in operation at other times.
Airports
Leonardo da Vinci International (Fiumicino) Airport (FCO)
Fiumicino Airport, Rome's main airport, is situated approximately 18 miles (30km) to the south-west of Rome. A train station within the terminal complex connects the airport with Stazione Termini and suburban rail services.
Ciampino Airport (CIA)
Ciampino Airport is the airport generally used by budget airlines such as Ryanair and Easyjet. Although actually closer to the city centre than Fiumicino, there is no direct rail or Metro connection, but a dedicated bus service operates between Ciampino and Stazione Termini.
